History of Freehold Realestate in Dubai

Dubai was the first emirate of United Arab Emirates to get involved in freehold real estate, at a time when UAE and GCC nationals were only permitted to own property in the United Arab Emirates.

In May 2002, His highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree that 100% freehold ownership of certain properties in Dubai is available to all nationalities. The announcement of 100% freehold ownership by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, sparked the real estate boom in Dubia’s residential property.

A Freeholder is considered to be the absolute Owner of the Land and Building comprised in his Title and he can Occupy and Use his Property forever and his heirs are entitled to inherit upon his death, or the Owner of a Freehold Property can transfer the Title to a new Owner, Registered Owner of a Freehold Property enjoys Residence Visa for as long as the Title of the Property remains in his name. Property owners and their immediate family, will obtain renewable Dubai residence visas for life, which can cost Dirhams 5000.00 per person.
